New York, NY

New York Socialites are like Hollywood’s young Celebs. They shop at all the hottest stores; frequent all the hot spots of the moment. They are gossiped about on Page six, dressed by designers, followed by paparazzi. BUT the difference is it’s a whole other world based on money (Not earned, but inherited), status and good looks (LA is all about new money, talent and celebrity… and of course good looks help too :)

www.socialiterank.com is this fantastic gossipy website (like Perez Hilton or TMZ only focused on NY Socialites, not celebrities) that weekly ranks New York Socialites. The girls are ranked using four categories to come up with the total power ranking:

• Personal styles and designer relations (1-20 pts)
• Press coverage in major publications and gossip columns (10 pts)
• Appearances and commitment to events (10 pts)
• Hot factor- what makes each of the individuals sizzle with personality (10 pts)

Let’s see how I stack up against the top five…

1) Tinsley Mortimer 44.1 (Famous for nothing, but looking pretty in photos)
2) Fabiola Beracasa 43.8 (Daughter of Veronica Hearst / best friend of number one Socialite, Tinsley Mortimer)
3) Rachel Roy 42.7 (Fashion designer and wife to Damon Dash)
4) Lydia Hearst 42.1 (Model / heir to the William Randolph Hearst media empire)
5) Olivia Chantecialle 41.8 (Daughter of French beauty guru Sylvie Chantecaille)

And me… Chudney Ross!

Personal style and designer relations (1-20 pts) – I think I have style, but sadly NO designer relations. I can ask to be dressed for an event and some may agree, but no one has ever offered to dress me socially.
For this category, I give myself an unimpressive… 5 pts

Press coverage in major publications and gossip columns (10 pts) – Every once in a while someone says something nasty and mean about me on a blog site, but major publications, not yet! I have appeared in the background of some photos, but I don’t think that counts.
For this category, I give myself a sad… 1 pt

Appearances and commitment to events (10 pts) – There is no one more committed to parties and events than me… What I’m lacking is the invites (hint hint… Invite me to your next party!!) If I lived in New York, I am sure I would be more a part the Charity and Gala events scenes because I’m a big advocate of charities and I love any good reason to get dressed up in a party dress. I do make some appearances, but I don’t go out every night or to every party.
For this category, I give myself 4 pts for at least making an effort ;)

Hot factor- what makes each of the individuals sizzle with personality (10 pts) – This is MY category!! I know I have the hot factor! I sizzle with personality. I am smart, witty and fun to be around (If I can’t be my own biggest fan, who else is gonna be ;)
In this category, I give myself a whopping 8 pts!!

That brings my grand totally power ranking to 18!! Which means I wouldn’t even come close to the top 20 listed on socialiterank.com. I venture to guess I rank somewhere in the 200-range. Are there even that many socialites in New York? Very sad!

New York, NY

New York Fashion week was a whirlwind of champagne and goose bumps
(It was F***in FREEZING!)

I was super excited to be asked to walk in the Rolling With Style charity Fashion Show during New York Fashion week. Not only do I love to strut my stuff on the runway, but it was a good excuse to get to go to all the shows and parties… and get my name etched on the infamous Page 6 for the first time.

“We Here… We Here…
THAT Chudney Ross, youngest daughter of Supremes diva Diana Ross, will model in the Rolling With Style fashion show Feb. 6 at Cipriani 42nd Street to benefit women's spinal cord research.”

So off I went via Jet Blue (You cant beat the cheap flights and the TVs in the seat! I watched The Real House Wives of Orange County marathon and the Super Bowl half time show!) leaving the warm, sunny California day behind and arriving to below freezing temperatures. Brrr….

Not every designer would seat me (Chudney Ross, who?) So I only went to a couple shows of designers with heart for a girl trying to make it…

Nanette Le Pore - Where pretty dresses stalked the runway as I, in a borrowed strapless number that nearly turned me into an ice cube, snuggled in the front row next to a cashmere clad Carson Kressley.

Bill Blass - Where gorgeous gowns for the high-end socialite draped off stick-thin models who glided across the runway. I wore a vintage looking Bill Blass red dress, which I pinned up with like a hundred safety pins (poor man’s tailor) to make it a little shorter and more flattering and sat amongst New York’s biggest Socialites mesmerized by Joan River‘s plastic surgery.

Heatherette - The show to be at this season where Celebrities flanked the front row and I held tight to my seat which I eventually shared with my seat-less little brother Evan. The disorganized mess was glittered with a crazed Wizard of Oz theme. It whisked me into a world far away, but not as far away as the one Britney Spears and Paris Hilton where in… both NO SHOWS on the runway!

The Heatherette after party at Rose Land was a nightmare of squeezing and pushing to get into, but once bracelets where finagled with the help from a couple publicist (Thank You ASHLEY SOUSA for appearing as if from a puff of green smoke from LA to use your PR powers and a little name dropping to get us through the crowd) and clinging closely to new friend, Kim Kardashian (who was being swept through the crowd), we made it inside.

Champagne flowed freely and I filled my mouth with the candies (I’m not usually a sweets person but who can resist pixi sticks and taffy) and eye candy roamed the room shirtless ;) We danced till the Pussy Cat Dolls finished shaking their stuff on the stage then made our way to a waiting Limo (whose? I have no idea :) which took us on a late night tour of New York nightclubs. At 5:00 am (Way past my bed-time) Evan and I finally made it back to the apartment where I quickly passed out (I’m WAY too old for this), but Evan snacked and watched TV till sunrise.

After meetings (my head in a foggy cloud and my eyes droopy) with my literary agent the next morning (yes, on occasion I do some work ;) I happily left freezing New York City behind and boarded my plane back to sunny LA where the bars close at a decent hour and I never stay up till sunrise

Los Angeles, CA

I recently met Kim Kardasian, famed best friend and travel companion to Paris Hilton (New friends are a plus and new friends who are in the social club you want in are even better).

Kim and I emailed back and forth, but could never seem to find a time to meet up for lunch, so on a random Tuesday trip to Malibu (I feel so at peace in Malibu sitting in the sun at the Coffee Bean with an English breakfast tea latte listening to the kids play in the playground that I used to play in as a child) I drove up to Calabasas to meet Kim at her store DASH.

I was more than slightly (and a bit embarrassingly) nervous as I winded up and over old Topanga Road. Re-visiting my geeky past and hoping to be liked, I even checked my outfit and applied lip-gloss as I approach the cute boutique.

All my worries for naught! The door chimed as I timidly stepped inside. My tension subsided as Kim greeted with a sweet smile and a hug. She is striking in person, sexy and gorgeous. (My body looks like that of a twelve year-old boy next to her. Maybe I need to add some curves to get the same sex appeal :)

Shedding my nervousness and self doubt, I warmed as we chatted about…

Family - Both of us have a million siblings who we are very close to. Family is SO important!!

Friends - Most of my childhood friends are on the east coast, which is hard because these are the people I feel closest to and the most myself with. Kim’s childhood friends are Hollywood Celebutantes… Paris, Nicole, Kimberly, etc.

Travel - I love to travel with my mother when she touring. Kim travels with Paris which I’m sure is way more of a party than traveling with my mom… and you know I love a good party ;)

We continued chatting and planning future dinners and parties as I danced around the store picking out dresses (I LOVE TO WEAR DRESSES. They are soooo comfortable and I think I’ve got some nice legs ;) I decided on a cute lacey low cut number by Trishia Fix… And Kim totally gave me a good deal!

In a town that seems so fake and cold… I may have found new BFF!
Watch out Paris ;)
