“Instructions on how to be an Heiress”

An excerpt from Paris Hilton’s book Confessions of an Heiress (Yes, y’all, I read it cover to cover!) followed by comments on how I stack up.

1. Be born into the right family. (I was not only born into the right family, I was born into the best one! Sadly, this is not something most people have a choice about. No family is perfect, but appreciate what you’ve been given and love).

2. Have a great name. (People may struggle with how to pronounce CHUDNEY and I may have been mocked a bit growing up, but I have learned to appreciate the uniqueness of my name. I have a great name!).

3. Have absolutely flawless skin, but don’t fret over it. (I may not wash my face before bed every night, but thanks to some good genes and Terri Lawton Skin Care, where I get facials, I’m lucky to have pretty good skin).

4. Eat only fast food or the most fabulous food. (I love McDonalds, Taco Bell and In & Out, but if I ate them all the time I would be a HUGE and my cholesterol would be off the charts! I love Mr. Chows, The Ivy and Koi, but if I ate THEM all the time, I would be broke. I think a good mix of what you love is where it is at ;)

5. Develop a way to walk into a room that looks royal and regal, but not snobby. (I try to walk into a room with my head held high and confidence in my step… royal and regal might be a bit much for me).

6. Never ever wake up before ten; never go to bed before three. (I wish I could stay up late every night and sleep in every morning, but this is never gonna happen for me. I am an early riser and can’t seem to sleep past 9:00am thanks to Peanut).

7. Always tell everyone what they want to hear. (I do tend to be a bit of a people pleaser, but I have a long way to go before I just tell people what they want to hear).

8. Never only have one cell phone when you can have many. (I tried the whole multiple cell phone thing and it was all cool till I got all the damn phone bills. Now I’ve got just one and I love it. It gets great reception, I can text with ease and check my emails. Who needs many when one does it all?)

9. Never wear the same thing twice. (I wish! If only designers wanted to always dress me or I had an indispensable income, but I DON’T! So you will see me in the same thing twice, three times, maybe more ;)

10. Don’t wear a dress that’s in all the magazines. (I try to rock my own style, but I am definitely influenced by what I see on stars and in magazines).

11. If you’re happy wear pink. If you depressed wear black. (Oops! I always wear black and I am NOT depressed! I guess I should try to work some pink into my wardrobe!)

12. Make plans, plans and more plans. (I’m totally a planner! I love to plan dinners, parties, potlucks, happy hours, any reason to get together with friends or family is a good one!)

13. Act ditzy. Lose things. (Ditzy is hard for me! I tend to be way too intellectual and organized. I’ll work on this one :)

14. If all else fails act bored. (I’m usually too excited to act bored, but I will make an effort if that’s the ticket to being an heiress).

15. Public displays of affection are ok. (Ask anyone… I’m a fan of PDA! I love kissing boys and a little making out on the dance floor or a dark corner of a club never hurt anyone. Just don’t be slutty! Keep it PG-13… in public ;)

16. Always have a very big bodyguard. (I hate someone following me around all the time. When we were young, we had security follow us everywhere. It’s hard to have your first kiss or use a fake ID to get into a dance club when some big man is following you around. If you REALLY need security, I say get yourself a big bodyguard, but if you don’t… NO WAY!)

17. Always have a tan. (Luckily, I was blessed with a tan at birth. I am mixed, half black and half white. I also love a little sun. I think it makes me look a little less green. A tan makes you look healthy, slim and sexy, but be careful with basking in the rays. Cancer is a huge risk and not worth it! Wear sunscreen!)

18. Change your hairstyle all the time. (I wish I were brave enough to rock new styles all the time. I love playing with extensions and once I cut bangs but I would never mess with the color. I’m scared to damage it more than it already is.)

19. Never drink diet soda. (I hate diet soda! If your gonna drink soda, I say drink regular. They are both bad though!)

20. Fear nothing-except insects. (I don’t like insects but I’m not scared of them… except scorpions or hairy spiders that could kill you. I think being fearless is a good way to embrace life and live it to the fullest!)

21. Never be predictable. (Yes, I agree! I think being unpredictable keeps people guessing. I would like to think I’m a bit of a chameleon. I’ll add… don’t be a follower. Pave your own road).

22. If the media plays with you, well, play them. (I think this is hard because I’m a very sensitive person. The media hasn’t taken much notice of me yet, but there are bloggers who are unnecessarily vengeful and mean. Even though I know they don’t know me and what they say is not true its hard to not take it to heart. I try to ignore it and not read it, but it still hurts. I know I have to work on having a thicker skin, but I don’t have it yet ;)

23. Last but not least: Make fun of yourself. Never take yourself to seriously, or rules to seriously (see all the above rules ;) (I love acting silly, being loud, and acting wild. I love being myself and having fun. I never care if people think I’m immature or noisy or silly. Its fun and it’s me! I’m focused and work hard, but that’s not ALL life is about. Why live a life without joy when there is so much love and laughter all around :)

I’ve learned a lot from Paris’ “Instructions on how to be an Heiress”.
Out of the 23 rules, I’ve only mastered a whopping 9. Not too impressive for a socialite on the rise ☹ I will keep these instructions in mind as I continue to venture out into my Socialite Life!

How do you stack up?

Pearl Aday is my oldest friend (and I don’t mean that she is 95 years old). We met when we were 5 years old. My dad was her father’s manager (her dad is Rock star Meat Loaf). One Saturday while spending a weekend with my dad, we went to meet her at her house. Pearl and her sister Amanda were skinny-dipping in the pool. We got along right from the start (not because she was naked ;) because we were the same age, liked to act silly, watch Pee Wee’s Playhouse, play dress up and make bands (Shout out the Bottle Caps, my first and only real ROCK band)!!

Having both not grown up in Hollywood with other celebrity kids, Pearl and I bonded over our similar situations. We really got each other. When our parents went away on tour, we would spend every weekend together. Pearl traveled with us on every family vacation. She lived with me in Paris and she was even a bridesmaid in my mom’s wedding to my stepfather. Even though we don’t spend that much time together, Pearl is my best-est friend… my sister.

Pearl now focuses on her music career and I am her biggest fan!! She is a budding rock star with an amazing stage presence (she often opens for Metal Skool at the Key Club, plays at the Foundation Room at the House of Blues and is about to hit the studio to record her debut album). Check her out at www.mother-pearl.com. She also designs rock inspired jewelry. This girl’s got Rock and Roll in her soul. (She made me a gorgeous necklace with a skull and beautiful purple stone at the end and a great pair of gold skull earrings). Check out all her jewels at the store Rock Candy on Robertson or on her website www.seamstressfortheband.com.

This week was Pearl’s birthday dinner at MOZZA, a delicious Italian eatery on Highland. At a big table in a private room surrounded by Pearl’s closest friends (among them her fiancĂ© Scott Ian from the band Anthrax and me of course ;) We gorged ourselves (not joking… I ate so much, I nearly popped out of my too tight dress) on Italian appetizers (olives, carpaccio, brussel sprouts, bread and olive oil) followed by yummy salads and baked cauliflower parmigan and then pizzas of all sorts (My favorite – The Italian Sausage ;) Each course was complimented by a selection of wine (sparkling to start, white with the salad and red to finish it off).

I rolled out before dessert (I seriously couldn’t fit one more bite in my mouth) to meet Evan at the T-Mobile Sidekick III party. I was totally late, but made it in without a struggle, ran across the red carpet and met Evan waiting with Kim K and her sister Kloe.

Inside was like a candy store! (No matter how full I am, there is always room for sour patch kids, reese’s peanut butter cups and pixi sticks)We filled bags of candies, then headed into the main room where there were video games, ski ball, fake tattoo stations, carnival food, free flowing alcohol and all of young Hollywood (Mary Kate and Ashley, Nicole, Ashley, Brody, you know who I’m talking about…) Fall Out Boy rocked the main stage as we danced around in the fake smoke.

As much as this is the scene I wanted so much to be apart of, I wasn’t having too much fun. Maybe I was too stuffed or too exhausted to make an effort, but I didn’t really feel a part of it at all and was sorry I had left Pearl’s birthday dinner. So instead of sticking around, I hopped in my car and headed back home ;)

Good Night Hollywood!!

Claudia Jordan (TV host and Deal or No Deal model) planned an OLD SKOOL ROLLER SKATING party for her birthday and J’ADORE magazine cover release party (though I’ve never heard of that magazine). After most of the girls who planned to go to the party cancelled (Boo Hiss to Sam and Kloe), Kim K and I were left dressed in our 80’s attire (Me in an ultra short skirt, off the shoulder top ala flash dance, leg warmers and pig tails. Kim in leggings, gaudy jewelry and a side pony) and headed out to the roller rink in Northridge (UGH! I never go that far into the valley. I’m such a Westside snob ;)

We arrive just as Claudia’s super stretch escalade was pulling up. She jumped out looking super hot in gold lame and followed by the camera’s for the website TMZ. The camera’s documented Claudia and Kim arriving at the party (I was shoved off to the side by some PR agent, but followed closely behind as to not get lost in the crowd).

Kim and Claudia ended up at a make shift red carpet where they posed and were interviewed by random press (No one big or that I recognized). People kept coming up to me and asking if Kim would do this or Kim could do that. What the did I look like… her publicist? I was psyched to be dressed up and anxious to get on the roller rink, so I just smiled and sent them to Kim directly. I am sure people thought I was the worst publicist ever. She kept pulling me in pics, which I am sure I was cropped out of, but no worries because eventually we got suited up in our roller skates and out on to the rink.

The oldies rocked, as we skated in circles and circles for hours and hours (I started out pretty wobbly, but eventually got my groove back). When we had enough of circling the rink, we worked on some fancy spins and one-footed maneuvers (mostly flailing about like maniacs). When we were finally worn out and dizzy from all the circling around, we returned our skates and darted out.

(Check out some funny footage on TMZ. I am the random with the short skirt ;)

Kim had promised her friend Winter that we would stop by her party at Area, so we decided to make a quick pit stop on the way home. We pulled up, hopped out of the car and approached the door in our 80’s gear. Sure enough, the door guy wouldn’t even look at us (N oone dressed like assholes can get into Area, I guess ;)

“Are we in the twilight zone?” Kim pondered!

She has never NOT gotten into a club, whereas I am totally used to getting snubbed at the door. She approached the girls with the private table list, who wouldn’t even look at her.

“We have a table,” Kim yelled… NOTHING.

Finally one of the girls looked up to let in another group or normally dressed Hollywood types. She glanced at Kim and I with contempt in her eyes, but then recognized Kim. HA! She shuffled us right to the table where Kim’s very drunk friend was finishing her birthday celebration.

On the other side of the room, I spotted none other than my baby brother, Evan! I made my way over and mingled with his friends. Terrance Howard was there in cowboy hat! (How come he has no problems getting in to the club looking like a cowboy and it’s a struggle for me in with pigtails… or dressed normally for that matter :)

My legs were tired from all that skating and dancing, so soon after we arrived, we headed home.

Kim K and her sisters Kourtney and Kloe own a high-end boutique called DASH in Calabasas, CA. They asked me and some other fabulous friends to be a part of a fashion show and event to promote and publicize the store. I love to strut my stuff on the runway and I love Kim, Kourtney and Kloe… so of course I said yes.

Saturday morning, I woke feeling great (still buzzing from the fun of fashion week) but my good mood subsided when I slammed into a flower delivery truck that stopped short on the Pacific Coast Highway (Not my fault, but Cali state law says that I’m to blame since I hit him from behind. Boo Hiss!) With me car having to be towed, my relaxing Saturday morning turned into a scramble (dealing with AAA, insurance, my worried mom and renting a car… I got a sweet Mini Cooper at a great rate, so at least I’m still driving in style ;)

Even with all the craziness, I managed to make it to the fashion show in time, hop into the makeup chair (where my eyes got a sexy, smoky look) and then hair (where my straight hair was transformed into a cascade of curls).

We hung out, sipped champagne as the tents filled and the crowd eagerly awaited the show to begin. I made friends with the other models who where all Kim’s friends: Brittney Gastineau (From the E! show Gastineau Girls. She is tall and striking in person with the most amazingly long, thick hair. Jealous!), Caroline D’amore (A model / DJ who I always thought would be a bitch from the way she struts her stuff on the runway, but turns out is the cutest, sweetest thing ever ;), Rachel Sterling (friend of Caroline and an actress I think, but I don’t recognize her from anything), Courtney Semel (The bitch of Rich Kids Cattle Drive on E! though NOT a bitch at all in person. She is smart and super fun). Also walking in the show were my friends Samantha (who had moved to New York, but is back for the time being) and Tasha Gates (a tall gorgeous gal from OC that I met walking in a fashion show over a year ago and our friendship is still growing strong. Models are not all about hair pulling and catfights, you know ;).

The show went off with out a hitch (No one tripped or fell off the tiny little runway or exposed any private areas). All the girls looked hot strutting their stuff on the runway and backstage we had so much fun as we changed into our different looks (I wore the two most amazing dresses by Alice and Olivia. I’m totally gonna buy them), practiced our poses, laughed and acted silly (what I do best!!)

Thanks DASH for having me be a part of your event! So fun! Love you girls ;)
